‘Broken and Repaired’ is a group exhibition, exploring how we mend and respond to the concept of fragility. Each artist was asked to ‘repair’ a broken or unfinished object that they had found - sometimes hidden away in life’s clutter, implying that each of these pieces has held some importance and intentionally not discarded, before being mended or repaired.

2023 marked the 50th anniversary of the Textile Study Group, a collective of textile artists who have been at the forefront of the discipline as both practitioners and teachers. Since its inception in 1973, and originally established to support tutors of embroidery, the group has evolved and grown in stature and is now one of the UK’s most prestigious and respected groups of textile artists and tutors.

I am exhibiting my piece, 'Entangled'. This work highlights the problems caused by discarded plastic found in seas and oceans. Plastic causes injury and destruction when it becomes entangled around marine life. 'Entangled' consists of fifty metres of salvaged plastic found washed up on beaches, stitched together and wrapped with fishing line and plastic rope.
